Things To Do

Corrib Village is located in Galway City, a charming and intimate city, packed with things to do and see.

The capital of Ireland’s Western seaboard, Galway is one of Europe’s fastest growing cities. Known as the "City of the Tribes" because its history is dominated by the lives of fourteen powerful families. The city's colourful mediaeval streets rub shoulders with some of Ireland’s finest craft shops, boutiques and malls. You can find shops to suit all tastes from the cheap to the extravagant.

Discover the true craic in Galway’s famous traditional pubs and modern nightclubs. The University College Galway guarantees a high proportion of young people in term time, maintained in summer by the attractions of the city's festivals. Galway, a hive of activity during the summer months, offers a wide range of entertainment such as theatres, pubs, traditional music, street entertainment, night clubs and galleries, excellent shopping, restaurants and bistro's to suit everyone's taste.

Galway is the multi-cultural capital of Ireland where the everyday spoken Irish of Connemara mixes with the native tongues of mainland Europe, Asia and furthers a field. It is also the gateway to the rugged beauty of the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands and the Gaeltacht where Irish (or Gaelic) is still a live community language. The breath-taking scenery and historical landmarks Galway possesses will amaze you. The area is a paradise for the golfer, angler (deep-sea and freshwater), walker or water sports enthusiast.

You will find activities to suit all tastes and moods from hill walking to pub-crawling!

Salthill is Galway’s seaside resort and one of the most popular holiday destinations in Ireland. Salthill is located beside the city, just a 5-minute drive from Corrib Village, with a 2.5 mile long promenade, making it the longest in Ireland. The promenade is a great place to take a walk and don’t forget to kick the wall when you get to the end of it! The kicking of the wall is a tradition which goes back generations; however nobody knows where it originated. Further out past Salthill there is Spiddal. Which has blue flag beaches. To get to Salthill from Corrib Village just turn left at the main gate and go straight through five traffic lights. Salthill Air Show Sunday 24th June 2007 www.salthillairshow.com
